Description
Charles A. Lindbergh is seen here in one of the world's most widely published pictures. The famous portrait was taken by Frank J. Merta, of Acme News - pictures (later absorbed by United Press International) at Mitchell Field, New York, about a month after he flew the Atlantic solo from Mineola to Paris non-stop in his single-engine plane "The Spirit of St. Louis" on May 20, 1927.
