Photograph of major shopping street in Monrovia, ca.1940. At center, a narrow street running in two directions can be seen extending to the extreme background. On both sides of the street, lines of automobiles are parked along rows of stores and small shops. The storefronts run parallel to the road and extend into the background. In the background, lampposts are positioned alongside the street. To the right, a large clock on a pole can be seen near a lamppost. Legible signs include "Cafe," "Shoes," "Ice Cream," and "Jewelers". In the extreme background at center, a large mountain range with a curving road at its center is visible.
