Photograph caption dated October 26, 1950 reads, "This was the scene in front of Temple Israel today as hundreds of persons battled police to get inside the temple where funeral services were held for Al Jolson. At least a dozen persons managed to break through the police guard and struggled inside the temple with mortuary attendants."
