Inside view of St. Anthony Catholic Church, built in 1955 and located at 1901 S. San Gabriel Blvd in the city of San Gabriel. Photo shows a Virgin statue inside a glass case. The statue dons a white dress, blue cape with gold embellishments, and a gold crown, a halo of stars surrounds her head. This is the Virgin of Zapopan, also referred to as: Nuestra Sen~ora de Zapopan, La Generala, La Zapopanita, and Our Lady of Expectation. In 1734, the Virgin of Zapopan was proclaimed the Patroness against storms and lightning. In 1821, the Virgin was proclaimed Patroness of the State of Jalisco, Me´xico.
