Description
A view of the pumping station on the Sacramento River. The piling forms the support and barrier for the big centrifugal pumps, which are to be placed within them at about the level of the water and about 3 feet above the low water mark. During the flood season it rises to the height of 22 feet above the low water mark. The top of the piles are 2 feet above the highest water recorded. The motors stand above the piles in the rear on the high lan.
