Photograph of a large body of water with pieces of glacier jutting from the water, showing mountains in the background, Alaska, 1935. At center, a large body of water is visible extending from the left to the far right. Emerging from the water's surface, several small pieces of a glacier can be seen. In the background, a small mountain range covered with vegetation is seen ascending to the right. In the extreme background, a large snow-capped mountain is seen to the left, and another large mountain range is seen climbing to the right.
Caption above image reads: "...earth's icy marvels--Childs Glacier and Miles Glacier, which tourists are able to reach comfortably over the Copper River and Northwestern Railway, while the steamer waits at Cordova. The trip affords an opportunity to see how, in the construction of this remarkable road, extraordinary difficulties were met and overcome. The railway makes one of its numerous crossings of the Copper River between the famous glaciers, and through unexpected foliage and flowers a few steps from the train, one comers upon a close view of a most stupendous spectacle. Along the...". Also, another caption reads: "Taku Glacier may be viewed at close range from the deck of your 'Alaska Line' steamer".
