The two women can be seen in the foreground, sitting on opposite sides of a light-colored wooden fence that stretches across the image. The crowded harbor is visible in the background at center. Two piers jut out from the shore at left into the calm water, and two large steamships are tied to the second wharf. Several small boats are moored in the water of the harbor, while swimmers can be seen close to shore. The large cylindrical casino can be seen in the background at center.
