Description
Photograph depicts installation of untitled print at Las Cienegas Projects in Los Angeles. Piece shows a drawing of the artist's head in an elaborate cephalometer, a device for measuring the dimensions of the human head. In this collection, Gonzales-Day looks to the depiction of race and the construction of whiteness as points of departure from which to consider the impact of Enlightenment ideas about freedom, class, gender, and even the location of the soul, in depictions of the human form, and the portrait bust in particular.
