The Bank of San Jose stands on the northwest corner of First and Santa Clara Street. Several horse drawn wagons stand in front of the bank and some pedestrians wait on the corner. Streetcar tracks run in front of the building on Santa Clara. This building was built after the original bank on this site was damaged in the 1906 earthquake. The four-sided clock in the corner tower served as the community timepiece since it could be seen throughout downtown and its striking bell could be heard even further. The building was demolished in 1947.
