Description
This 1940 photograph shows the Bekins Capital Van and Storage Company warehouse and trucks, located at 1800 21st St. The optimistic assurance of a "fireproof warehouse" is included in signage at the top of the building. Bricks, the warehouse's building medium, were often referred to as fire-proof wood throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries. Running adjacent to the Bekins site was the Southern Pacific Railroad freight track.
