This is a photograph of a funural at the Dongzhen. Two men have carried the hand made coffin by attaching it with ropes to a large pole for transporting it. Father North is leading a small group of people in prayer before it is buried. Another missioner, dressed in white, is in the rear of the photo and partially hidden. Rev. North was born in Brooklyn, NY. He entered Maryknoll in 1925 and was ordained in1937. He was assigned to Kongmoon remaining in China throughout the war years. He was recalled to the U.S. in 1947, where he served in a number of capacities. In 1966 he was assigned to Transfiguration Parish in Chinatown, NYC, where he remained until retirement in 1977.
