Description
"Topo" was made by Androbot, Inc. in 1983, for the purpose of teaching programming to kids. Three versions were manufactured; the first model was introduced in January, 1983. This Topo is a model 1 with serial number T0183001, which means it is the first commercially manufactured Topo. The Topo model 1 was controlled by radio transmitter; the models 2 and 3 used infrared transmitters. They were programmable via an Apple II. The Topo has two wheels with fixed arms, and could execute basic movements, but did not have any speech capability. Androbot was conceived and founded by Nolan Bushnell, the founder of Atari and Chuck E. Cheese Pizza.
