Description
This is side A of the third tape, from the day two, of the annual Drucker Symposium of 1981. The topic of the day is “Managing the Increasing Complexity of Large Organizations.” Tom Gladwin is the moderator and William F. May is the panelist. Peter Drucker begins and mentions how organizational theory is influence by the constitution, which is largely positive because it considers the importance of limiting power. He goes on to discuss specific examples of both proper and poor organization techniques. He also describes a shift in production sharing in which resources are no longer organized by products, but in stages of productions. A product is created where the labor, or designers, or researches are located; in the same way that it is sold where the customers are.
