Photograph of a view of the Santa Ana River entrance, (or upper Newport Bay area, looking north, from east side?), Newport Bay, ca.1909. A ferry can be seen paddling about a dozen passengers up the river. A man in a rowboat further up the river at left is visible rowing his way downward. The water is calm except for the ripples made by the ferry. Grass covers the area in the foreground, while a cliff forms a boundary on the other side of the river.
