Description
Photograph of the beach at Long Beach looking out from the pier, California, 1890. A crowd of people sit and stand closely packed on the tarp-covered third tier of the pier at right, while two others stand on the left corner of the second tier. Below, the beach is visible, with beachgoers stretch along the sand, many sporting parasols. A small shack from which a tall mast-like pole extends is partially visible in the extreme center foreground. Houses from the city can be seen on the hill in the distance.
