The plane is composed of two flat, parallel wings, an extended square tail, and a long flap above the top wing. Also, four wheels can be seen below the frame of the plane. In the foreground below the plane, crowds of spectators sit in benches and watch the show. In the background, two American flags can be seen draped on poles near the edge of the crowd. A description on the photograph reads: "Louis Paulhan Making His Record Breaking Fleight For Altitude - 4600 ft".
