Description
Photograph of the site of the Hollywood Bowl before development, ca.1918. The large hillside on which the Bowl would be built is at center. There are two or three small wooden buildings at center on a part of the hill that has been cleared of trees. The hillside at left is still wooded. In the distance at left, parts of the city of Hollywood are visible. The picture file card reads "Property of the Hollywood Bowl Association" photo circa 1918 when they acquired the property. The property was acquired in three separate parcels "the entry Pepper Tree Lane ( from a postman and his wife) the parking lot, called Daisy Bell, from Mrs. Hershey and the balance, including the Bowl itself, from a carpet cleaning company. The building in the photo belonged to the carpet cleaning company".
