Photograph of an exterior view of the Los Angeles County Courthouse and Jail on Temple Street, ca.1904. The tall, four-story gothic building stands on a hill at center, a long set of steps leading up to its entrance. The bell tower can be seen protruding at center, over the roofs of the other parts of the building. Below, several horse-drawn carriages are parked along the sidewalk by the brick wall that surrounds the hill. Immediately to the left of the Court House, the Los Angeles County Jail can be seen (it was replaced with a newer jail, built 1903 on the north-east corner of Temple and Buena Vista Streets). In the middle, at right, the Aberdeen Hotel is visible located at the north-west corner of Temple Street and Broadway. The Women's Christian Temperance Union Building (built in 1889) can be seen across Broadway from Aberdeen Hotel. More buildings are visible in the extreme background. Picture file card reads "(Pasadena)".
