Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Francisco Castro adobe on Rancho San Pablo in El Cerrito, ca.1900. The long, two-story house is shown at a slant at center, tilted towards the left distance. The second story of the lightly-colored building features a balcony which serves as an awning for the lower floor. A large, fibrous tree can be seen parallel to the corner of the house at center, obscuring much of the home's features. More foliage cuts in from the left. The home was originally part of a 19,000 acre ranch granted to Castro in 1823. Later only five or six acres were attached to the adobe.
