Panoramic view of San Bernardino reproduced from the plate of the U. S. Geological Survey of 1850. The survey unit was located at the Mt. San Bernardino "Base Line". The original was crude and imperfect. Corrections were made by Judge Rolf and Captain Sheldon Stoddard both of whom aided in building the old fort and lived in it with their families. They were Mormons.
