Description
The Los Angeles basin was recognized as having the worst ozone problem of any city in the U.S. on August 22, 1964, but researchers studying the city's atmosphere have had a hard time linking smog and lung disease. Here only the tops of downtown skyscrapers are visible from a nearby hillside.
