Photograph of an interior view of the main shaft of Black Jack Mine on Santa Catalina Island, October 16, 1935. The rough, narrow dirt walls can be seen close around the border of the foreground. Ropes hang from the ceiling and thick wooden planks stand as a frame. Beyond the initial frame about six miners in work clothes, hats and dusty faces look towards the foreground.
