Photograph caption reads: "Alexis Smith's collages, shown above and with her at right, are created from newspaper clippings, maps, comics, posters, book covers and photos. Nearly 30 pieces of her work are on display at the Margo Leavin Gallery in an exhibition titled "Jane". Photograph dated: Spe. 14, 1985.; The tag containing a key chain states, "Deaf mute. Sir or madam: I am selling this useful key chain for my living. $1.00. Thank you". Written across the collage at the bottom is a quote, "Of course, everything's a mess. The mess is just the decor in which we live".
