Photograph article dated April 18, 1962 partially reads, "A 16-year-old Valley student who has achieved top West Coast music honors was named 'Young American of the Month' this week by a national magazine. Kenneth Yerke, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Yerke, Hollywood, received the honor Monday at the Chevrolet plant in Van Nuys during a luncheon in his honor. Kenneth, a violinist, has played with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and has won the O'Grady Award of the Music Arts Society of Santa Monica. In 1958, his parents, both accomplished musicians, bought him a $3,500 Joseph Gagliano violin, made in about 1780. The award is sponsored by Chevrolet's magazine, American Youth, which makes the award six times a year. Kenneth will be featured in the May-June issue." Photograph caption reads, "Kenneth Yerke receives youth award - With him are his mother and H. H. Prentice."
