Description
Image shows school student Josephine Kerr, planting a tree in the patio area of Malaga Cove School, with a group of students and principal Edith Perry, visible at far left, standing behind the planter. Ms. Kerr, a sixth grade student and president of the student council, shovels in dirt around the tree's base. The school's tower is visible in background. As reported in the Palos Verdes Bulletin (May 1926, p. 2), "The children of Palos Verdes, their parents, teachers and friends, aided by members of the Board of Education, celebrated Arbor Day on April 20th, by planting Oriental Plane Trees on the Malaga Cove School grounds."
