Photograph was edited for publication purposes; Photograph may also have been used for an article dated April 30, 1962. Photograph caption dated April 2, 1962 reads, "Mrs. Gross points to 'serious' side of her husband's art." The article partially reads, "Remember 'Nize Baby,' 'Banana Oil,' 'Count Screwloose of Toulouse,' 'Groosely Exaggerated,' 'Dear Dollink'? These are the imaginative machinations of the late Milt Gross, beloved humorist of America who died in 1953. But before Gross left his world of cartoons which were syndicated in newspapers and magazines throughout Europe and the United States, he did a surprising thing: He painted serious studies in oil. These oils, plus sketches, manuscripts, and other artifacts of the Gross universe, numbering about 500 items, are being exhibited for sale at 14021 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until April 16. Mrs. Gross...said her husband's favorite subjects seemed to be 'old, broken-down houses,' although he also painted landscapes, seascapes, and still life scenes."; See images #00131364 through #00131365 for all photos in this series.
