Description
Bust-length portrait. "H Bornemann, artist" -- handwritten in lower right corner. "Bradley & Rulofson, photographers, S.F." -- handwritten in lower left corner.
1990-1612.
Born in Massachusetts in 1825. Arrived in California via Cape Horn in 1849 where spent some time in mines of El Dorado, Placer and Nevada counties. Settled in Sacramento where involved in variety of businesses: grocery, wheat and milling business (Bay State Mills), manufacturing of California wines and brandies, Capitol Packing Company (fruit cannery), president of Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company. Died in 1903.
