PhotographÂ was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated January 16, 1956 reads, "As resurfacing of San Fernando road is pushed through San Fernando, heavy traffic is routed down repaved strip during business hours. Engineers of State Highway Department are completing work with crews through use of burner in foreground which melts old paving as it is followed by truckload of new asphalt, tamping crews and street rollers in far background."
