This collection includes approximately 40,000 photographs by commercial photographer Ralph Morris, who worked in the Los Angeles area from 1939-1981. His advertising and industrial clients included department stores, restaurants, the automobile and petroleum industries as well as business executives. Also included is the Luckhaus Studio collection of architecture, fashion, the movie industry, sports and street scenes, images which Morris obtained in 1939. A group of young people enjoying one of several summer activities that took place at an unidentified beach in Southern California. View 1 shows five men giving five women a "lift". The men stand with backs slightly arched after having swung the women up so that the women are now practically upside-down mid-air. Their feet are up, their backs arched, and their hands are clasped tightly behind the men's necks holding on to dear life. Several buildings can be seen in the background.
