The first school in Wilmington, California, a two-story wooden structure with bell and steeple.
Title transcribed from item. Date range approximated by cataloger based on the year that film negatives came into use and the latest known dates indicated for other Hazard images in the Huntington's collection. Note: this is a print - the original negative is not in this collection. This schoolhouse was located in the middle of a block on West G Street and opened in 1865. (Source: Seaman, Simie, ed.
