Description
One of the defining images of turn-of-the-century Sacramento was the gateway to Oak Park and Joyland, shown in this circa 1910 postcard. The inviting Oak Park entrance arch was constructed in 1903 by the California Gas and Electric Company, shortly after taking ownership of the area from the Electric Power and Light Company. The arch was positioned at the southern end of the intersection of Thirty-Fifth Street and Fifth Avenue.
