The Atlantic Richfield Building, designed by Morgan, Walls & Clements and built in 1928, served as the corporate offices for the Richfield Oil Corporation, which later was merged into the Atlantic Refining Company and Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) in 1966. It was razed in 1969 to make way for the Arco Plaza at 505 S. Flower Street. Looking south down Flower Street. From left to right, the Superior Oil Company Building, the Tishman Building, the Southland Hotel (later demolished), the Atlantic Richfield Building (later demolished), the Gates Hotel (later demolished) and a State of California employment office (later demolished).
