2008-2259. IN PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM: **TN423.Z6 Y45 W55 1911, pg. 4 Plates in: Views of the "Yellow-Aster" Mining and Milling Company Randsburg California, 1911 : photograph album View of R.L. Burcham in a feathered hat, seated at a large desk with an empty chair across from her. Also have negative number: 25,027 (4x5 in.) Yellow-Aster group of mines founded by John Singleton, C.A. Burcham and F.M. Mooers in 1895 in area of Randsburg; stamp mills were built beginning in 1899. Rose Burcham was involved in management of mine. Rose was born in 1857. She began her medical studies with her father, James La Monte, went on to receive medical diplomas from Buffalo Medical College and Eclectic Medical College. In 1885 she moved to San Bernardino, Calif. where she set up in practice. She married Charles Burcham in 1887. In 1903, financed by Rose, Charles discovered and, subsequently, developed the Yellow Aster gold mine. When the company was formed in 1897, Rose was made secretary, a director and worked as an active manager of the mine. She died in 1944.
