Description
Ellen Burstyn discusses her book, “Lessons in Becoming Myself.” She begins by sharing stories from her childhood. She tells how she was sent away to boarding school at an early age and when she returned home she lived under the rule of a violent and overly strict mother. She then explores her relationship with her mother and the conflict she felt between her love for her and her mother’s controlling and competitive nature. She goes on to detail the rise of her career as a model and an actress and the role men played in her life. Later in the interview she shares memories of the making of some of her films such as, “The Exorcist” and “Same Time Next Year.”
