Photograph caption dated September 16, 1959 reads, "Harry Waite, left, and Herman Griffin display giant turnip and squash grown in Alaska and sent to Waite by John Bush, farmer in Matinuska Valley, near Anchorage. Vegetables won blue ribbons in first fair sponsored by 49th state."
