Photograph caption dated October 13, 1961 reads, "Meet Mac, one of the Valley's displaced dogs available for adoption at one of three animal shelters. Five-year-old Mac is typical of the animals to be found at the San Fernando Shelter, 543 Glenoaks Blvd., San Fernando; Burbank Shelter, 2 W. Burbank Blvd., Burbank, or the Los Angeles Shelter, 13131 Sherman Way, North Hollywood. In addition to a nominal price for the animal, a new owner will have to pay license fees and have the dog given an anti-rabies shot."
