Johnson, designer of Lockheed's record-breaking F-104 Starfighter, shares honors with plane, named 1959 winner of Collier Trophy, presented and sponsored jointly by National Aeronautic Association and Look Magazine. Plane dubbed 'year's greatest achievement in aviation in America' with value demonstrated in actual flight during preceding year. Plane topped three previous in-flight records."
