Description
In high school football field set up to help train Civilian Defense Corps in different emergencies, small smoke bomb marks gas incident test with casualties and the removal of a victim for treatment. C.D.C. workers in helmets carry "victim' away from site as other casualties lie on ground. Small signs in foreground mark sites for additional emergencies, including "Road Block," "Water Break," and "Crater." High school visible in background. Note taped to photo says: "A gas affected area js actually visible in this photo taken during the Civilian Defense Test May 2, 1943. In effort to make each of the incident tests as realistic as possible, casualties may be seen in the Gassed area, while one victim is being removed for treatment by the (??) Medical Corp. Road Block, Water break and Crater signs indicate that protective services will immediately participate in this incident, and as quickly as possible complete their assignments.
