Thought for the day by Charles Handy on the value of grandparents and how they should not be overlooked in their importance to the family. Handy begins the thought discussing how the passing of his daughter's grandmother prompted her to return home from a stay in the Czech Republic. He proceeds to describe several of the grandmother’s characteristics that endeared her to her grandchildren, and cautions that, in the current political climate and its discussions of all types of parents and households, the grandparents should not be forgotten, as they serve as wise rocks of stability in the family. He also cites Ecclesiasticus (Book of the Apocrypha) in suggesting that the opinions of elders should not be disregarded.
