Monterey Parlor, Native Sons of the Golden West, present to J. Harvey McCarthy, founder of Carthay Center, a section of the original Monterey customs house flagpole, which flew successively flags of Spain, Mexico and the United States and which bears the proud distinction of having flown the first American flag ever raised in California.
