Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Photograph article dated August 12, 1964 partially reads, "'You have to feel that you are doing some good for somebody, otherwise you are kind of useless in society.' That's the creed of Virginia Orcutt, who many feel has done as much for Northridge and the West Valley as any woman, or man. She's chairman of, or on, more committees than a Southern Congressman. For instance, 'I have been chairman of Northridge Beautiful for the past two years. I am also a member of Los Angeles Beautiful, San Fernando Valley Beautiful, and California Beautiful. 'When I got a letter from United States Beautiful, I thought 'Oh boy! Where am I going now?'” Photograph caption reads, "Northridge favorite - Virginia Orcutt performs the ordinary chores of a typical housewife in between the not so ordinary civic projects she performs in the north Valley community."
