Description
Photograph of a view of the east end of the inner corridor at Mission San Juan Capistrano, showing Marcelino Tobares standing in the corridor, ca.1886. Tobares, an old man dressed in ragged clothing, stands with one foot on the steps in front of a doorway. The building around him is in disrepair. The corridor is an arcade where several wooden beams hint that the arcade was once had a roof over it. "Marcelino Tobares standing in corridor - (mestizo yaqui que vino a Capistrano en los anos 1850) - half Yaqui, came to San Juan in 1850 and was retainer of Don Pedro Verdugo." -- A. Yorba.
