Description
Closeup view of dice and poker chips taken in a raid at an alleged gambling den run by Sam Kardenski and John M. Hall, in Avalon on Santa Catalina Island. A gun was alleged to have been discovered in the dealer's drawer. Prosecution introduced the paraphernalia as evidence as having been seized in the raid. This case is said to be the first of its kind to be heard in Superior Court and a test case as to whether conspiracy can be found in alleged violation of gambling laws. Photo dated: July 24, 1929.
