A steam boat is pictured in the water to the left, while sailing vessels make their way around the bay at center and in the right distance. The wharf and the buildings of the town are visible in the background, along with mountains. The caption beneath the image reads "Terminus of the Texas Pacific Railway. From the Peninsula Looking East Across the Bay" as well as a short paragraph describing the bay's depth and the city's important figures of the time.
