Description
Photograph of a small outboard boat named Edith being launched in the Colorado River at Needles ca.1900. The boat is owned by George Wharton James. Two boys look on as seven men manhandle the small boat into the water. A rifle leans against a wagon seat sitting on the shore which had been removed from the horse-drawn wagon (partly visible at left) in order to transport the boat. Near the seat is a pile of belongings in trunks and a duffel bag. The distant far shore is line with trees.
