Description
Interior view of the Diwan-i-Am (the hall of public audience) showing the large marble throne with a highly decorated columns and cover. The throne sits between two pillars and has been fenced off. The pavilion is one of several buildings inside the Red Fort which was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and completed in 1648. ❧ This is one of a series of photographs contained in an album showing popular tourist attractions in India, the album was owned by an unknown Church of Scotland missionary who had probably taken the tour whilst working out in the region. Unfortunately there is very little information with the photographs as to there ownership or subject matter.
