Photograph caption dated August 4, 1987 reads, "Demonstrations against and for the Nicaraguan contras ended yesterday morning with the arrest of 34 people outside the California Air National Guard facility in Van Nuys. Authorities said more than 200 people joined a protest by Pledge of Resistance against the National Guard's involvement in Central America. About 25 counterdemonstrators supported the anti-Sandinista forces. After some agitators got through the Balboa Boulevard gate, about 40 LAPD officers arrested 30 adults and four juveniles for trespassing and failure to disperse."
