Scope/Content: "Attend Management Conference -- H. Wendell Backstrom, left, and Raleigh Redus, CLU, right, district managers of the Oakland-North and Oakland-East district offices respectively of Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Co., with office manager Iola Riley, second from left, and cashier Marion Allen, participated in a weeklong management conference held during January by the company in Los Angeles and attended by district managers and cashiers from each of the firm's operating areas. The conference, with the theme ""Together We Build"", dealt primarily with promoting company growth through improved services to its policyowners and included daily workshops and open discussions with top Golden State executive officers and directors. Oakland offices of Golden State are located at 4844 Telegraph Ave. (Transcribed from caption)"
