Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on August 28, 1966 stated: "A forest service sign, left, calls attention to the history of the town whose only salute to progress is a heliport 50 feet off the main street. The bulletin board, center (subject photo), in front of the dancehall has not carried a notice for decades, and the old school bell which still hangs in the belfry, right, has not sounded for a half century."
