Photograph article dated November 5, 1953 partially reads, "The Burbank City Council, at its regular meeting, is expected to approve the latest proposed routing of the Golden State Freeway and so notify the State Highway Commission engineers. This step was indicated by Burbank Mayor Carl M. King today after a public hearing last night at Burbank High School. The latest routing of the freeway, it was pointed out at the meeting, attended by approximately 300 citizens, has been designed to avoid the George Washington School, at Winona avenue and Lincoln street." Photograph caption reads, "Citizens attend freeway hearing - This is portion of crowd in auditorium of Burbank High School as latest proposed routing of Golden State Freeway was discussed.
